This ad ran in many major national publications, including Newsweek, Time, Inc., Success, Entrepreneur, and others. You may recognize some of the photos as mine. I also wrote the headline. This was totally unrelated to my advertising career, in that MBE was not one of my clients. That was just where I shipped my hats at the time. MBE also wanted me to be in a TV commercial.
As much as I would have liked the publicity, I turned them down. I had already promised to take my daughter to Disneyland at the same time they were producing the commercial, and as a matter of personal ethics I refused to take any of my daughter’s special time just so I could become rich and famous. Family first.
