La Costa borrows the same low diamond crown – barely four inches – that gives the Italiano its edge, then pairs it with a slightly broader brim curled around about three-quarters of the way, a nod to the Keeneland. It is a neat illustration of how mixing a crown from one hat with a brim from another yields something entirely your own. The effect is sharp and tailored; I think it leans dressier, more at home with resort wear than weekend cut-offs. Keep the brim under about 3 1/4 inches, and a slimmer ribbon sharpens it further.
