(Please also see “How to Measure Your Hat Size”)
Heads do not come in hat sizes. Heads come in all sizes. My hats are custom sized to the nearest one-eighth inch, sized to actually fit your head. Sizes are shown as a measurement, such as 221⁄8 inches or 235⁄8 inches. (As a general rule standard hat sizes are three-eighths inches from one to the next. Hat size 73⁄8 is three-eighths of an inch larger than hat size 7¼. Custom sizing gives you a much better fit by allowing for sizing in-between standard hat sizes.)
Sizes are shown as a range. The Classic Fedora can be blocked and sized anywhere from 211⁄8 inches to 25¼ inches. But the Monte Carlo range of sizes is 217⁄8 inches to 24¼ inches. Make sure the style you choose is available in your size before ordering.
I wish they were. My hats are shaped on hat blocks. The blocks are what define the shape and style of the crown. For some styles, I have a wide range of different sized blocks so I can make a wide range of sizes. For other styles, I have only a few blocks, covering a smaller range of sizes.
If the smallest block I have for a particular style measures 23 inches in circumference, then I cannot make a hat in that style that is sized to 21 inches. Sometimes I am missing small sized blocks for a style, sometimes I am missing large sized blocks, sometimes both.
But what if you really, really, really want a style that is not available in your size?
Call me. Sometimes I can figure out a way to do it. But don’t count on it. The sizes shown really are what can be made for each style.
Hats can also be sized in centimeters. The range of available sizes for each style is given in both inches and centimeters. Hats can be custom sized to the nearest one-fourth centimeter.
Right now, this style is not available in sizes larger than 22¾ inches. I simply cannot get larger hats in this style. This type of crown weave with the lacy designs is almost a lost art. I am working to create a larger supply of this style of weave, especially in larger hat sizes.
